Almost all business are on there these days but very few medium to small business take the correct steps to make sure theirs is appearing in the right place and as often as possible. By following a few simple steps you can make changes that will see the phone ringing more, more people finding your location, or happy customers leaving great reviews! Log in regularly This is where Google users leave reviews either positive or negative. Make sure you know what people are saying about you and your services. Don’t be afraid to respond to negative feedback with good customer service. Remember others can see what you say here so never be negative! Make sure all opening hours are up to date Especially on those long weekends, we all enjoy so much. Google loves to see you log in to make changes and this is one of the easiest to do! Use keywords A simple but often underused technique for grabbing a higher ranking. Don’t limit your description to “plumber Bondi open 24/7”. Go all in, with something like “Experienced plumber and late-night emergency plumber in Bondi with 20 years’ experience. Covering Bondi, Bondi Junction, Maroubra, Double Bay, Coogee and Bondi Beach.” Take a second look at the description again, without it being “stuffed” or “spammy” it manages to mention “plumber” twice and “Bondi” three times along with other great terms like, “late night,” “emergency,” and a bunch of suburb names. Photos Another great option with Google Maps is to add photos of all your best jobs. Make sure your potential customers can see the sort of work you can do. They don’t need to be professional shots but that wouldn’t hurt. By logging in every few months to put in new photos Google will see your maps listing as “active” and reward you with a higher spot on the Search Results Page. Summary Google Maps and Google My Business listings are truly powerful tools that are often underused and as such could represent a strong opportunity for a business.
