It is undeniable that online marketplaces are a growing trend to sell on along with your website. Especially if you want to reach new customers and maximise your sales!

Listing on marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon have many key benefits – the cost of acquiring new customers is much lower as these popular marketplaces typically have more visitors than standalone websites. As well, visitors who come to your website may just be browsing with no intent to purchase, whilst visitors who go to a marketplace are typically searching for something with the intention to make a purchase.
Another main benefit is that the cost of advertising within these marketplaces is normally cheaper, especially when you participate in promotional campaigns such as EDM’s and site wide sales managed by the marketplace themselves.

Being listed on Catch and MyDeal also helps to increase brand awareness and begins to create trust, especially when you combine this with strong branded packaging of your product. That way, if customers want to purchase again, they’re more likely to search for your brand and purchase directly from you!

MyDeal and Catch are awesome marketplaces for consumers who want a ‘bargain’ deal of known brands and good quality products. A key benefit of being listed on either one of these marketplaces is that when consumers see a brand that they may not recognise, there is less hesitation to make a purchase as their customers have already established trust, good shopping experience and credibility that both marketplaces only offer good quality brands and products.

These benefits can also be applied to eBay and Amazon as well, as both of these marketplaces have a wide range of products on offer even though visitors who actively use both tend to search for something at the lowest possible price. eBay Australia

eBay Australia is great to sell basically anything and everything, however keep in mind that people who shop on eBay are very price sensitive. They will search and purchase the item at the lowest possible price.

To maximise your chances of a sale, make sure you list your item at a competitive price, offer free shipping and don’t be scared to add up to 10 high quality images of the product itself and as much detail of the product as you can come up with.

Once you’re on eBay Australia, hit register in the top left corner.

Once you’ve done that, you should see the form below.

All you need to do is put in all the relevant information and follow the next steps. Then you’re set up!

Amazon Australia

Amazon Australia is a newcomer to the Australian market, and while it did take a while for Aussies to accept this new marketplace, so far traffic to Amazon Australia has been increasing month on month.

The Amazon marketplace is quite similar to eBay, where visitors are very price sensitive, but Amazon does have a reputation that the products listed on this platform is of a higher quality than you find on eBay. This means that you don’t necessarily need to go in and list at the lowest price.

To sign up, head to amazon.com.au Once you’re on Amazon Australia’s home page, scroll down to the bottom and you should see three sections. Under the “Make Money with Us” heading you should see ‘Sell on Amazon’.

When you’ve clicked through the link, you’re then taken to the Amazon Services page where you should see the ‘Register Now’ button in the centre of the banner.
